The view from a train window over lavender fields at dawn

Lumara Botanic

More than a scent,
a journey

Four stops on one line. Lavender fields, the green coast of Asturias, a Christmas market at dusk, and lemon terraces above the Mediterranean — kept as candles and solid wax bars for the rooms you live in.

The story behind the line

“My grandfather and my father gave their lives to the railway. Because of them I learned that journeys don't begin when you arrive somewhere — they begin the moment the train pulls away.”

Every station held a different landscape, a different scent and a memory that has stayed with me: fields of lavender, damp woodland, coasts washed in sea air, and streets perfumed with citrus. Years later Lumara Botanic was born, to turn those memories into small pieces capable of taking other people somewhere else. Because sometimes the most beautiful scent is the one that returns you to a moment of your own life.

Stop 01Provence, France

The Lavender Fields

All aboard. Today we travel to the lavender fields.

The first stop on the line. Heat off the tarmac, shutters closed against the afternoon, and rows of lavender running away from the track in long violet lines. Nothing hurries here.

  • Lavender
  • Aromatic herbs
  • Dry grass
  • Soft vanilla
  • Warm wood

Late afternoon, windows down, the fields still holding the day's heat.

Stop 02Asturias, Spain

Asturias

Next stop: Asturias.

The green north — and home. Cider apples, low cloud on the hills, cliffs dropping into the Cantabrian sea, and grass that never quite dries.

  • Green apple
  • Meadow grass
  • Rain
  • Apple blossom
  • Oakmoss
  • Cedarwood

Mid-morning, just after the rain has passed through.

Stop 03Northern Europe, December

The Christmas Markets

Next stop: Christmas.

The line runs north and the landscape closes in. This stop is not a field but a square at dusk: stalls, lanterns, and the particular warmth of standing outside in December holding something hot.

  • Mulled wine
  • Gingerbread
  • Orange & clove
  • Cinnamon
  • Star anise
  • Wood smoke

Dusk, first snow, the market still filling up.

Stop 04Amalfi Coast, Italy

The Citrus Coast

Final stop: the Amalfi Coast.

The last stop, and the brightest. A road cut into the cliff, terraces of lemons held up on chestnut poles, and villages stacked above deep blue water.

  • Lemon
  • Bergamot
  • Neroli
  • Citrus leaf
  • Fig leaf
  • Sea air

Late morning, the road still in shade, the sea already bright.

Conscious craft

Made slowly, in small batches

Each fragrance is developed by hand, tested in real rooms, and poured in small quantities. Full material, wax and wick specifications will be published here once they are confirmed — we would rather say nothing than say something inaccurate.
